After reading Erik’s blog post The Number One Reason Companies Need to Blog About Their Products, I thought I’d clarify the best place to put your blog if your objective is to get the most search juice and the top search rank.
If your blog attracts lots of links, it may be better to have the blog inside your website as the links will drive your site’s page rank and SERPs (Search Engine Results Page) up. In fact, links are so critical to search engine optimization that almost always, the right answer will be put the blog inside your website’s domain. For those who have and have no idea what I’m talking about, we’re talking about this difference in your blog’s address:

For the past week, I’ve been at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, covering the race for my Laughing Stalk blog as a media blogger. I’m one of the only, if not the only, non-race blogger here in the media center.
I’ve seen some pretty awesome stuff while I’ve been here. I met Rick Mears, interviewed Justin Wilson, but I think the coolest thing I’ve experienced is hearing that a race car designer has embraced social media and plans on making all their car designs and plans available to the public, a la open source.

Let’s be crystal clear, RECRUITING is EXPENSIVE.
YES, it is…but, isn't that highly subjective to the context in which it's used?
The #1 pick in the NFL or NBA Draft is just one example... This is almost always the most EXPENSIVE player available. Yet, everyone wants to land the top prospect.
To illustrate, have you ever seen the following sequence of events?
1) NFL/NBA #1 Draft Pick signs with a team
2) Smiling for camera's & wearing Team Jersey
3) Owner shakes head disgusted by ADDED EXPENSE!

The Good: Congratulations! You've landed your Dream Job! It's i n 'X' (fill in blank), the place you've always thought you wanted to live. Let's call it 'Kirksville' or 'EASTeamville' or 'WallyWorld' for the sake of this post…
The Bad: Relocation is required and it's generally an Emotional Roller Coaster...because it's change. And even good change is still, well, change…
The Ugly: You are now simultaneously faced with 2 of life's biggest stressors. If you're in the midst of a divorce, Kudos! Because you've just hit the Stress Trifecta!
As Employers & Recruiters, we are wise to have a keen sensitivity to this when on boarding and qualifying, respectively. Human nature isn't inclined to pry into these circumstances, but we must. It's our job and our responsibility. Use some tact, buffered with common sense and your knowledge of the people most impacted.
As an example, do you know whom is the absolute most important person in the process? THE SPOUSE.
